PCTO 2024-2025

The aim of this edition was to create a robot vacuum cleaner. Although it’s a common household object, this device integrates various technological aspects that make it interesting from a mechanical and engineering point of view. The simplest models offer a cleaning service and autonomous movement, while the more modern and sophisticated versions are equipped with surface adaptability systems, machine learning methods for learning the characteristics of the house, objects and spaces to be cleaned. Students were divided into thematic teams and faced technological challenges to build their own small prototype of a robot vacuum cleaner.

The PCTO was conducted by the Polytechnic University of Turin, with members of the Chilab-ITEM laboratory; the Chi-Hub Association, an entity that brings together local companies to manage PCTO activities and promotes training activities in the STEM field, also gave its contribution. Companies such as Asseltech Srl, Microla Optoelectronics Srl and Vent Srl were also involved and contributed through technical interventions and short lessons
