On Tuesday evening, October 14th, the Semicon Dinner – Connecting Regional Semiconductor Ecosystems took place in Brussels, coinciding with the European Week of Regions and Cities. The event served as a fantastic opportunity, bringing together over 100 guests and partners from across Europe to exchange ideas on the future of the continent's semiconductor industry.

The atmosphere was charged with a shared commitment to major focus areas, including investing in advanced packaging, integrated photonics, and chip design. Furthermore, attendees emphasized the critical need for building knowledge, talent, and infrastructure, and significantly strengthening the connections between regional and European ecosystems.

As the current chair of the ESRA - European Semiconductor Regions Alliance, the Regione Piemonte—represented by Full Professor of Electronic Engineering Luciano Scaltrito and Tiziana Dell'Olmo—was proud to showcase its vibrant regional ecosystem and its dedication to a stronger European semiconductor future.

Professor Scaltrito highlighted a key insight during the dinner: "The future of microelectronics will depend on the development of new materials and innovative processes dedicated to the heterogeneous integration of Chiplets, bare dies, and next-generation packaging technologies. To make this possible, strong European cooperation is essential."
